The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 retention list is out, and it's shaking up the cricket world! Will your favorite players stay or go?
Every IPL team has made their choices, and the results are intriguing. Punjab Kings have retained a whopping 21 players, making them the team with the most retentions. But here's where it gets controversial: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have let go of two significant players, Andre Russell and Venkatesh Iyer. Russell has been a KKR mainstay since 2014, and Iyer was their most expensive purchase last season. Is this a strategic move or a risky gamble?
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are in a rebuilding phase, having lost 13 players, including the iconic Ravichandran Ashwin, who has hung up his boots. However, MS Dhoni remains a constant in the team. CSK also traded away Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to RR for Sanju Samson, and Donovan Ferreira returned to RR from DC in exchange for Nitish Rana.

The reigning champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, have held on to 17 players, including the legendary Virat Kohli. They're clearly aiming for another title defense. Meanwhile, several player trades have already occurred, causing a ripple effect across the league.
LSG traded Shardul Thakur to MI for Arjun Tendulkar and strengthened their pace attack by acquiring Mohammed Shami from SRH. MI also brought in West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford from GT and welcomed back Mayank Markande from KKR.
